Huh. Go figure. So, all these times that I lamented the short lives of the cucumbers in my fridge, I was actually hastening their doom. Very useful information. Thanks, Melanie!

Exactly. See, the problem with this study is that the liars were given a pre-constructed lie. The reason that upper right is associated with lying is that it might mean that the person is constructing a lie. In this case, the liars didn't need to construct anything.

I agree that Meyer, again, has girls and women being dumb girls, and that's a frustration for me. But, then again, some girls and women are dumb girls, and they can't all be great role models. But despite that, I absolutely loved the book. It'll probably be a discount Tuesday movie for me.

I couldn't make it past ten pages in Twilight, but I was spellbound by The Host. As a general (but not absolute) rule, people tend to like one or the other but not both.

Affect is correct in this case. It's a noun describing one's facial expressions or lack thereof (in overly simplified terms). Some people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, for example, have an altered affect.

Ah, that worked. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me how to figure out what year my MacBook is?

If you're doing the Stanford course, I think this would be not at all what you're looking for. From the "read more" info:

This is just stupid.

This. The theatrical demonstrations may be appropriate to elementary school demonstrations, but they're insulting to adults. Sorry, but we don't need to smush a poor woman against a nearly naked man in order to tell us that nasal polyps block our sense of smell. (1:17 here if you are fortunate enough to not know what

Out of curiosity, I poked around SurvivalTek's youtube page. Another video shows how to use a CD as an emergency signal. That's a fair tip if you find yourself lost and happen to have a CD, but the youtube blurb kills it: "If you plan to travel in a remote location, grab a CD before you go... it could save your life!"

Madness. Madness, I say!

Don't even need to click the profile. Just hover over the user's icon and the heart/follow option will pop up.

This is actually a peeve of mine. LH needs to stop calling the results of hive fives "best". They're the most popular. Whether they're really the "best" is something that needs to be measured in a completely different way.

Ha! Very nice.

Good news indeed. All I ask is that all people be "allowed" to learn to read and write. That's always the foundation of determining one's own destiny.

Sounds like the plot of a new indie movie. Someone get on it!

I don't know about "much", but there is research indicating that boys are more likely to act out in the presence of girls. Obviously, this is applicable only/primarily to boys of a certain age.
