To be fair, you can see each vote without clicking more than once. Hover over each chicklet to see the comment, and then click the drop-down to scroll through the rest of the comments. You can't see replies without clicking, and it would be really nice to see whether or not a comment has replies before clicking.

They did test. But this is Denton's baby, as far as I can tell (the name is even recycled from a previous project), so the testing wasn't so much about whether to implement, but what tweaks to make before implementing. Gawker was the testing ground, iirc. Believe me, the first version was even worse.

This is obviously a senator who needs to make sure to vote on the upcoming bill regarding the elimination of lawns. Hopefully he/she also remembers to push the right button.

VOTE: Omnifocus

But it's oh-so-worth-it!

Ok. Off-topic but relevant because of a trollish comment here by someone who readily dismisses anyone who has the gall to call her(?) out on it. Can we possibly add to Kinja the option to ignore certain posters? My blood pressure would sure appreciate it.

One more reason to love math. This is beautiful in both its initial counter-intuitiveness and ease of demonstration. I just love mathematical mind f*cks like this!

Yeah, I'll admit that Kinja's growing on me, but I do still prefer to have the option to view all. I find that on the sites where blueTonic's plugin works, I read first the top few conversations in Kinja, then switch to classic mode in order to do another skim. There are frequently some newer comments that I find

Huh. Yeah, I don't know where I got the belief/habit, but I guess I'm lame(ish). I don't pretend they're better than they were; I just don't talk about the negative. Everybody had good and bad, and I just prefer to not blab about the bad. I guess it's just one more way I'm more old-fashioned than I should be.

Thanks for pointing this out. I refused a diagnosis of depression for most of my life because it didn't fit with my view of depression (which, really, is what is described in your quote). But, when I'm depressed, I don't know whether or not it's hard to stand up because I don't really care enough to try. I didn't

Not intending to give you heat, per se, but I'm beginning to wonder whether I'm alone in my belief in never* speaking ill of the dead.

Now playing

Sorry, no one will ever beat Scout. (No, you don't need to understand German to enjoy this video.)

For my birthday, I got a humidifier and a dehumidifier. I put them in the same room and let them fight it out.

It's true that technology neither creates nor prevents mistakes; it only helps people make their mistakes faster. That said, the increased speed due to technology gives users less time to realize errors before they're irrevocable. Moreover, there is a not-so-small school of thought that says that well designed objects

Ok, thanks. The conversation made it sound like the comments got banished away from the entire discussion page, so I was beginning to wonder.

Ah, thank you! I was trying to figure out from where I knew her... and my will to google was just too low.

+1

Excellent suggestions. I'll add only one (it may be implicit, but it's not explicit in your list): provide the option to switch to an old-style vertical comment list. Now that I have blueTonic's plugin, I find myself switching between views. They both do have their pluses and minus, and having both views helps catch

Does dismissing a statement no longer move it to its own thread? That's how it works/ed on the other sites upon switching to Kinja, but I know that Kinja has evolved a bit since its first debut.

Wait... My impression, from other Gawker sites, is that the x wouldn't remove the comment completely, but just move it to it's own thread, so it would still be available from the top level of chicklets. Is it different here?
