I want to agree with you, but if you adjust for inflation, a base model Miata in 1989 would have been priced at $35,000 in today’s currency. That’s more than the $30,170 of the current base model. If any thing the car has gotten cheaper in real dollars.

They don’t need to make it bigger, they just need to make it more space efficient. I had a Fiata, there was plenty of wasted space in and around the rear bulkhead such that they could have made it so the seat would go back all the way or a even a bit farther and not be church pew upright. I had to get rid of it

If Mazda drops the Miata they become just another automaker. The Miata is a halo like unlike any other. If Nissan can afford to sell the “Z” with only minor modifications for 100 years, then Mazda can do the same... heck, it needs to do the same. So much of the brand’s goodwill is tied up in that one car. And let’s

They made the mistake of letting the price creep up way too much. I bought a new Hybrid Ford Maverick for $25k MSRP. A new Miata has got to cost less than a more functional vehicle.

The new Z may be little more than a re-skin of the 370, but it’s a cool re-skin, and at $10,000 less than a Supra, it should have been a hit. Problem is, once greedy dealers got to work on the markups, it was no longer cheaper than a Supra, and at that point there was literally zero reason to buy one. Dealers are

I don’t know if posting this take on Jalopnik dot com should be considered brave or asking for it, but best of luck to you. You’re gonna need it.

It also doesn’t help that Nissan drivers have a universal, and well-deserved, reputation for being among the worst drivers on any road.

The Miata is one of the last true sports (not GT) cars available. The Subaru BRZ is another. I’ve owned both at one point and I’ve currently got an Alfa Romeo 4C, which is another true sports car no longer being made. At this point, I’m hard pressed to think of any others. Everything from Ferrari, Porsche, etc. these

Their secondary market journeys are so rough. Repos, auctions, BHPH lots, sketchy neighborhoods, buyers who just need A car -- any car and hate having to own one because Boomers made car ownership mandatory.

Trump and his minions really want their Forth Reich here in America. If he manages to block the certification of certain states and gets back into power, I’m willing to bet that the US will be at war with Mexico by the end of his term...

*Every single blue collar factory in America*, “first time?”

The best selling vehicles in America , including spots, 1, 2, 3, 7, 10, 11, are these “gigantic” vehicles. I ran XC for years, in that sport, that would score 23 points and count as a massive beat-down.  Those top 3 add to the same as the next 6 combined.  So I’d say we have a gigantic vehicle problem.

Clarkson doesn’t need your defense. His terrible behavior is well documented. If he’s wearing a target it is because he chose to put on a target shirt. I would guess he’s a fun hang if you avoid his absurd climate takes, but ultimately, he’s a tool.

My opinion is that modern cars are really, REALLY good....for people who don’t care about driving and consider a car an appliance. Which, to be fair, is the vast majority of the car buying public.

knocked toyota off my list when they moved their headquarters to Texas after Abbotts attacks on trans people. Guess they havent improved. No big loss. Their offerings have been mid for a while anyway.

Amazing to me that one hateful idiot online can spark immediate changes in the behavior of fortune 500 companies, but as a collective society, we can’t come together and realize that increasing corporate profits are robbing the middle class.

He makes pretty cars. That’s pretty much it.

Rich people just loooooove their lakefront properties.  My parents live in rural Tennessee and there are a number of manmade lakes and dams nearby. It was reasonably affordable until 10 years ago. Now its just as much as it costs in California. To live near a “lake” that gets drained down pretty regularly.

Fun fact for the fine folks of Michigan- as sea levels rise and climates warm, get ready for a bunch of rich folks to move to your most picturesque spots, jack up the prices and price you right out of your home and then call you unamerican for daring to be poor in their presence.
