My question is, why don’t more women catcall in the first place?
I’ve actually seen it a few times, but it’s not at all to the same magnitude that we receive it, and usually more innocuous.
What do you think?

What do you think?
Yes, but you made the comparison to coal mining regulations, which you must now admit is not at all in the same realm at all as an awkward advance — you want die from being hit on at work.
And by the way, toilets are required for sanitation — yes, you can die from lack of sanitation.
Wait, have you ever worked a blue collar job?
I have.
Me and the women that worked that factory floor were resilient. I knew older women, approaching retirement age, who swore and drank like truckers, and they especially would be insulted to be presumed not to be able to take care of themselves. We were not powerless.
There’s a big dif between safety regulations in a mine — do you work in conditions where you could be crushed to death, starved slowly of oxygen, or say, set ablaze by an “unwanted advance” or “comment about your appearance”?
I’m not saying ppl shouldn’t behave appropriately in the workplace, but there has to be more…
The two aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive.
Maybe there’s some of that going on, but for me, as an “older woman” (well, compared to the main demographic for Jezebel perhaps), I just find some of this a bit puritan. For example, I’ve seen plenty of women behave inappropriately in the workplace — frankly, some of them get away with much worse than the men did.

Was this an indie shoot? Would we know this actor’s name if you dropped it?
There’s definitely a boys club attitude, but the other part of it is that it’s also easier if you’re single. I know SO MANY men and women who work in the film industry, and who have had a much slower career trajectory because they’ve opted to have children. If you want to be a good mom or dad, you want to put in the…
Normally, you might blame her agent for this — after all, it’s their job to get the appropriate pay. And the reality is, some agents make stupid decisions, usually putting their own interests ahead of their clients.
But I think Michelle Williams and Mark Whalberg are at the same agency, so they are going to have an…
For sure some of segment of outright racists helped get Trump elected. But if you look at polling data, trends about views on, say, interracial marriage (just one context clue I find helpful: http://news.gallup.com/poll/163697/approve-marriage-blacks-whites.aspx) that group of really motivated racists is just not…
I didn’t know that.
Honestly don’t get what’s so funny about Louis in the first place.
I wonder if she “supports” Trump, or if she can see another side of why people voted for him.
I have working class roots, and so does my husband — we both picked up things Trump was saying, very early on as a candidate, that gave voice to working class rage. People wanted an anti-establishment hero for the working…
I think there might be some of that going on for sure!
Doesn’t this strike anyone as a little ageist?
People have different attitudes around sex, what’s appropriate, what constitutes communication (verbal, physical, digital), and where the lines are. And maybe older women (like me) have learned a thing or two...
