Conscientious or not, it is murder on the ears.

Somehow you managed to miss years of education.

Sarcasm. This person is derailing the issue at hand by being all, "but what about white people?!"

People are not tanning to look like minorities. There's not the stigma with tanning that there is with skin bleaching and you know it.

I know - it is so unfair to white people, that there are literally no articles about the dangers of tanning, or about the dangerous standards that people are striving for in the name of beauty.

I'm glad that she came forward so people can see how much pressure there is to lighten your skin. It's insidious. Some of the fashion mags use intense lighting to create a lighter skin color. I wish they wouldn't be so hard on her and save some of that rage for western culture's infatuation with light skin.

skin went from chocolate brown to the color of your boyfriend's dirty sock.

The Taliban just do what other men wish they could get away with anyway.

Well...using their 'logic," wouldn't it make more sense for every women to gather a harem or stable of male partners, thereby guaranteeing one or more "protectors" in case one of them goes bonkers?

Tell me how these guys differ from the Taliban again?

Nobody is saying it's bad, but that's around as absurd a use of statistics as saying men are 100% less likely to become pregnant from failing to use birth control, and as such, men don't need to use birth control.

The rate of REPORTED abuse among married couples is lower than that among couples who are not married. I would be wary of the assumption that abuse itself is lower, when there are very good reasons why such abuse would not be reported (even in the context of, say, an anonymous survey).

Everyone else has already pointed out the problem with interpreting the stats in such a way, but also...what if it WERE true that marrying a man made women safer? How is this in anyway useful advice? What if I don't know any men I'd consider marrying? What if I don't want to get married? What if I do want to be

That in itself is not bad, but it's a statistic and nothing further. This article is drawing a HUGE conclusion beyond what the facts suggest. It proports a statistical conclusion is causal (abuse among married couples is lower than among couples not married, therefore, getting married will prevent abuse!) when in

Well, marriage guarantees the end of domestic violence, and dads are never abusive to their kids, right? Maybe marrying dad really is the solution, plus it would prevent the terrible, tragic, and not-at-all-good event of your daughter letting some non-christian hippie stick his penis inside of her and make babies who

Also, if you weren't already married, you could've married him to protect yourself.

For reals, you guys. That's why they call a tank top an unmarried-friends-with-benefits-beater.

BREAKING NEWS: Domestic violence is no more. Sources say that reports of domestic disputes have dropped to zero.
