This perfectly portrayed my relationship with Glee
Yeah, it's the one that HP fans universally despise. It may have looked cool, but it does a number on established canon and characters. And those are big problems when you're attempting to adapt a fantasy novel.
"Though Alfonso Cuarón’s Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azakaban is popularly considered the best of the Potter film series…" by whom??? PoA is THE worst Potter film by a good mile. Yes, CoS runs slow and long, and yes, OoTP has an infuriating opening sequence, but PoA not only starts out by undermining the entire…
Colin Jost #CancelJost
Last week's Christmas episode was one of the show's best. I can't wait for it to return in the new year!
How is Sing Street not on this list?
I wish that the AV Club was able to review the whole block of ABC family sitcoms. My favorite of the bunch has become The Real O'Neals, and I'm worried its not getting enough attention. A weekly review could help to raise its profile.
I would second votes for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and iZombie. Both fantastic shows, and especially iZombie could do with a little extra love and attention.
I think the problem with Sanger is that her opinions drove her work. She wasn't a famous scone maker by day and eugenicist by night. She believed that there were people who shouldn't be allowed to reproduce, and that through birth control she could "purify" our tainted populace. She created Planned Parenthood to…
I wonder how her support of the eugenics movement will play out on screen. I can see it now, "That Hitler, he's got some great ideas." Kidding aside, I've never understood Planned Parenthood's attempts to deify this woman.
I completely agree. I was in a similar situation after the finale aired; only I sold all of my dvds on ebay.
This was what ultimately turned me off of the finale, and then the show. Barney was my favorite character and watching his slow development into a pretty great human being was what I loved most about the show. To have all of that growth, seasons and seasons worth, be completely thrown out the window in mere minutes?…
How were none of the songs from Sing Street nominated?
That's a good point! Her presence transforms Big, Blonde, and Beautiful from an anthem of self acceptance into a weight loss ad. I can't imagine John Waters signed off on her casting.
I enjoyed elements of Hairspray Live, but I just can't get past NBC choosing to cast Jennifer Hudson as Motormouth Maybelle. Yes, Hudson is a talented singer, but the Maybelle character is written to be the perfect confluence of the show's two themes; namely the struggle for both civil rights and fat acceptance.…
Fixed Newsies? FIXED NEWSIES??? Unless fixed is now a synonym for ruined, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about! I saw Newsies at the Papermill Playhouse before its transfer to Broadway, and on that day part of my soul died.
I know I'm not going to be able to watch Jennifer Hudson sing Big, Blonde, and Beautiful. I'm sure it sounds great, but the fact that they cast a skinny actress to sing the seminal anthem to fat acceptance is a travesty!
I've gotta go Bill Pullman.
Well, as far as I understand it, stunt casting is when you cast a big name even if he or she isn't right for the part. Jennifer Hudson is a talented performer, but completely wrong for Motormouth Maybelle. Having a thin actress sing the seminal anthem to fat acceptance, "Big, Blonde, and Beautiful", is a travesty! Or…
Normally, I can't get behind stunt casting (I'm looking at you, NBC execs, for casting Jennifer Hudson as Maybelle in Hairspray) but this works. We know Jennifer can sing, dance, and kind of act. She'll be a perfect Rosie! Now, the bigger question, who's going to fill in for Paul Lynde? I've got two suggestions:…
