Imagine you’re in a park. You see a man walking cute dog, a corgi mix maybe. The dog pees on the sidewalk and it splashes on the man’s shoes. He takes off his belt and hits the dog with his belt buckle. Would you call someone to report animal abuse?

“Normal” doesn’t make it right. Throughout history, child marriage was “normal,” but we don’t allow it now and arrest people who rape children.

So it’s okay to beat black and brown children with belt buckles because that’s their “culture” and somehow that makes them immune to the effects of abuse? How disgusting! Imagine if some Southern school principal made that argument—how quickly you’d shut him down.
