What it doesnt tell you is that, immediately after switching to punisher mode (within like .75 seconds after), you will auto-parry attacks.

I would also add that, in addition to being interrupted if you are attacked, if you were casting a spell and get interrupted, not only will you lose your ATB charge, but you will also lose the MP consumed for the spell. Such a drag!
I’ve played both FFX-2 and Lightning Returns, and honestly enjoyed both. I get that this team has had a hand in some shitty storytelling, but I think it would be difficult for them to go too far off the rails, considering that the world of FF7 more or less already exists, so the way that the rest plays out is at least…
I think it's a carryover from low-res with JRPGs, like they couldn't convey depth with just text and low-poly models so they had to rely on a deep backstory to connect you to the characters. But yes, agreed, it's always fun to have a protagonist that's just like, go with the flow, everything's chill.
Sorry you feel that way. I don't mean this in a snarky way, but the original will always be there, waiting to be replayed. In fact, I'm installing the Remako mod tonight (complete with HD textures and a completely retranslated script) and I am going to burn back through it. There is room in the world for both, and…
I'm hella excited for this. Just finished the game tonight. *Chef finger kiss* Magnifique. I've been drinking the FF Kool-Aid for years, but this takes the cake. So stoked.
I think it could just as easily become a parable about the unintended consequences of altering “destiny.” Like, they get a bunch of innocent people killed, or they start another war, or meteor blows up the planet, or Tifa or Cloud die. There are a lot of interesting directions they could go with it.
I see your point, but I also think that, of all games in the Final Fantasy universe, FFVII is like, THE Final Fantasy. Kind of like the biggest jewel in the crown, or the keystone in the castle. We're hoping that the creatives on the team have some adults in the room that realize the fact that, if they fuck this up,…
To be fair, the plot of every single Final Fantasy after VI has been batshit insane. I don't know about everyone else, but that's why I keep showing back up. I'm a die-hard FF fanboy, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I not only think they can pull it off, I think that the complete package of whatever…
Counterpoint: XIII-2 and XIII-3 were far superior to their source material.
Fun fact: every single protagonist in FF7 is psychologically damaged by something tragic in their past. Zack... just doesn’t really fit the mold.
Tifa of FF7 Remake is a pretty well fleshed out character (truly, no pun intended). She’s become a hyper-sensitive empath who connects with everyone on an emotional level. It would definitely be tragic if she were to be offed. Cloud & Tifa forever.
I just did.
Yes but if this is an alternate timeline, they can do whatever they please.
Hmmm I didnt see any proof that Jessie is still alive, and Wedge seemingly died when he was blasted out the window of the 59th floor of Shinra HQ.
This was my first thought as well. Tifa would be the only one (other than Cloud) whose death would be truly tragic (from a player psychology mindset, not trying to diminish the worth of any of the other protagonists).
A man after my own heart. Though to be honest, the only FFs I’ve played (6-15 sans 11, Tactics, & 7 Remake) that I didnt like were 9 and XIII (though 13-2 and 13-3 were both really good games).

Tactics for the win. Tactics forever. Also, FFX gets so much hate but it's really an enjoyable game with a lot of cool ideas. And that soundtrack! As good as FFVII and FFVIII.

Mystery woman is Ms. Folia, I believe, once you run some side quests.
Agreed. I’ve already spent 40 hours on the game and I haven’t even beaten it yet (although I am close). Anyone holding out because they think this is a “cash grab” is missing out on a wonderful game.
