I watched Finding Nemo like that once. Turned on the English subtitles. Apparently Bruce the shark swears constantly. It was quite baffling, as I understand both English and Chinese, and neither audio version warranted the subtitled vulgarity.

Either it was a blind idiot translation or we all got trolled hard. XD

I’ve wished that the US would subtitle their shows for a while now. Closed caption technology is great and all, and the tech has improved a lot, but the lag and occasional mistitle still drives me up the wall.

I disagree there. I live in a highly dense urban area, and I still have to go out of my way a little bit to go to Whole Foods. Not far enough to stop me from picking up the goods that feed my sustainability bent, but far enough to be a pain.

They have a similar system in place in Japan and Taiwan where your packages can be sent to the nearest 7-11 (which are AONS nicer than the ones in the States). But that’s because they’re literally everywhere and it’s super convenient.

There’s not nearly enough Whole Foods stores around for that to be less annoying than…

I’m a little sad that this means Whole Foods will be cutting staff, as the clerks I’ve met there have been far and away the friendliest, most helpful and generally pleasant to interact with in comparison to the local Jewel Osco. But the ability to Prime my specialty groceries isn’t a terrible consolation prize.

Last I remember, Ash was favoring a Greninja, which is a water type. He’s been getting more screentime/battletime than even Pikachu. So there’s that. XD

Loved this book.

Then again, I had an awesome Literature teacher and a whole class of smart people with me to get through it together. I don’t know whether I would have enjoyed it half as much without all the in-depth analyses and flowcharts and family trees.

Many professional conferences have some sort of informal conversation event along with talks where you can sit and eat with the speakers or something, but barring that, just grab them after the talk if you want to gush.

I mean, ziplock bags have always worked fine. Not the tiny sandwich ones, but a gallon one, jut to catch the splatter. You really don’t need industrial strength or anything.

Yeah, the legal definition of assault very clearly includes “intimidation” and “demonstration of ability to cause harm” regardless of supposed intent for a reason.
