All screen images were simulated. Meaning they created that footage from whole cloth. Meaning any frame rate issues are in your brain.
“... taking the game down to patch it just isn’t an option.” What does this mean? That’s not even close to how this game works. It runs on local clients and individual servers - we’re not talking about a persistent game world. Even games with persistent game worlds are patched.
This is also true of any new console. Games bring people to the platform. These risks aren’t new. Creative people have to take those risks, or they will never pay off, and we won’t enjoy the virtual reality future we deserve.
So... does Rocket League not have a LAN mode? Are these contests generally conducted remotely?

I felt similarly. The mission system used to be extremely frustrating. They’ve overhauled it in a big way — it’s much easier to see what missions are available and how to complete them, and it makes the base game way more accessible. Might be worth another go.
