When I set up my gmail account (I think it was still by invitation back then), I just forwarded my aol email to the gmail and never actually de-activated the aol address. I still use it for my Netflix login, since when I signed up for the dvd service, gmail didn’t exist yet.

I kept my old AOL email and solely use it now when I purchase stuff online. That way my real email doesn’t get all junked up.
