The Asus Transformer Prime is $499 for the 32gb wifi model and beats the ipad on hardware. It runs Honeycomb but Asus promises an upgrade to ICS. As far as I can tell it only loses to the ipad on 3rd party support. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned as a competitor in your post.
