I spend 50+ hours/week working with low-income children of color with mental health concerns. I still feel sympathy for Kim, Kanye and their babies. Is the rich mentally ill community where I invest my time and resources? Nope, but I can still feel for them while acknowledging that they have many opportunities and

Even so, having money doesn’t automatically mean you’ll get good treatment. Look at Lohan or Anna Nicole Smith - money attracts yes men. I’ve had to switch doctors twice now because they’ve broken my trust by asking me for tickets to baseball games.

Resources help but don’t protect people from violent crime (apparently) or severe mental illness. Your lack of compassion is not a good look.

Jesus that’s tough and I’m glad you’re in a better place. Mental illness can be so hard to pin down and treat even with the best of resources. *internet hugs*

Lol clearly I’m awful. I’m certainly not perfect but i do my best to care for each client equally.

Don’t lie, you clearly hate the poor people and those on Medicaid you evil elitist! Lol, I’m giving up too, I can’t.

Yea I’m giving up now that they’ve started a side convo calling me a liar about my job. I don’t really know I’m supposed to counter that.

You’ve officially now said fuck yiu and called me a dumb bitch multiple times. You “don’t give a shit what I think of you” but get so worked up over a single Jezebel comment that you go on a completely unhinged tirade? Get a grip lady, it’s slightly pathetic and more than a little sad.

Nobody said money wasn’t a help! Good god it is like talking to a wall. You clearly don’t know what it’s like to struggle with a mental illness, based on your own standards, so I think this is all futile at this point.

Hi. You seem to have made some fun assumptions about those of us who disagree with you.

Nobody has said that having resources isn’t a benefit in dealing with mental illness. She’s just trying to put words into people’s mouths to suit her own agenda that only those she deems to be struggling enough for her liking deserve any compassion. I think it’s one of those “nobody has it worse than me” complexes

Sucks rich or poor not sucks equally rich or poor. I can feel sympathy for Kim Kanye and their children without dismissing their suffering just because they have the money for safety and treatment.

Can I assume you are not homeless and you have food? You mentioned a spouse before so you have family? Some mentally ill people have none of that, so obviously by your standards only they deserve sympathy because it’s easier for you, so suck it the fuck up buttercup because you don’t struggle at all :). Is that

Never once did I say they didn’t or that it doesn’t help to have money. I said it doesn’t make it “better” as in the emotional toll of a mental illness on family members sucks rich or poor. I’ve also said that compassion does not need to be limited just because of someone’s income bracket. I’m not suggesting we start

I work for a for-profit firm so I have a lot of wealthy clients but we also take a lot of probono work. We have a sliding scale payment system that caps out at the highest tax bracket. A lot of what I do is taxes so things like dependent child credits as well as deducting medical expenses and things like that. I don’t

You’re using feigned sympathy for people you’ve never met to attempt to insult me for saying we should have sympathy for people struggling. So ok.

There’s clearly a lot of anger there and now I’m regretting stepping in it.

I work equally hard for all my clients and take all of their calls at all hours. Millionaires and those with much less. My sympathy for those with more is not limited because my sympathy for those with less is increased. Kindness is not a 0 sum game.

I hope that line of thinking brings you happiness though I’m not confident.
