I’d love to hear a sociologist or someone with close ties to China talk about this particular study. At the risk of sounding rude, I’ve always heard that certain values like honesty and integrity simply aren’t as emphasized in Chinese culture. Even something as minor as online video games, Chinese players are often

Okay, this is the same sport known for regular displays of overt and performative racism, hooliganism, assault, destruction of property, literal barriers between fanbases at games, etc.

But we are worried about manners right now. The US women are just too outwardly confident.

Years ago I bought a Nook Simple Touch because I wanted the simplest, non-backlit e-ink reader that I could find. I put a 2gig memory card in it and never looked back. I have used some, ahem, totally legal methods to get epub and pdf copies of every book I might ever be conceivably interested in and loaded them all on

If someone showed me this photo and asked “What sport do you think this guy plays?” I would immediately guess baseball.

You seem pretty damn salty yourself to be playing the “no need to be a dick about it” card.

I was kinda the opposite. I killed Destiny 1, then vanilla D2 did nothing for me. I finally gave it another shot when Forsaken came out and I absolutely loved all the changes that were made. I’ve just recently gone back to Overwatch but only because I burned myself out on D2 the last ~6 months or so.

Their early shows were incredible. The first time I saw them was 2003 and people were literally hanging from the rafters and jumping off the balcony. This record still gives me crazy nostalgia.

Certain gairaigo words and their usage have always been kind of funny and curious to me. I wonder sometimes what causes the language to use a cognate instead of just using their original words.

The franchise “Fainaru Fantaji” comes to mind. I know equivalent words exist for “final” and “fantasy,” so why even try to

Seriously a stupid criticism but also exactly what I expected to see at the top of the comments.

I’m just happy that I called Brienne + Jaime way back when I read Storm of Swords a decade ago.

If you’ve read the books then Jon killing Dany is almost an inevitability if he is supposed to be the Azor Ahai.

Having multiple screens in your living room does alleviate some marital stress. There are never any fights about me taking up the TV with my video gaming, football watching etc. when I have my own dedicated screen over in the corner with all my bullshit over there.

Also, Back to the Future is science fiction and Star

I’m right there with you. Preacher is probably my all-time #1 comic, and I think I was too much of a fanboy to get into the show. I watched the first season and it almost felt like when I was a kid and I was excited to go see The Phantom Menace for the first time, but then it turned out to be The Phantom Menace.

That criticism kind of reminds me of when Alabama football was just starting to get rolling under Saban. Even after their first national title, the chatter was always “Alabama just grinds out wins, they don’t have flash and they don’t blow people away.”

Toronto and Montreal have large populations of black and brown people. As does Vancouver. Many of them are my relatives.

LOL this is a joke right? Obviously racism exists in Canada, hasn’t truly been eradicated anywhere on earth unfortunately, but it’s not even remotely near the same level of racism that exists in the US.

Maybe they don’t come in contact with black people that much, but they are racist as hell when it comes to minorities.

Japan, South Korea, etc. are all extremely racist as well.

It’s interesting to me though how many Europeans there are out there on the internet who have things to say about American racism while also saying things like “it’s just not something we have over here.”
