Nice hit piece on Elon. The tweet you posted in your update even says they might have used the submarine as a backup if the weather turned bad and began raining heavily again. You just ignored that part and hoped no one would notice. 

The new logo is kind of ugly but your complaints are misguided. Google isn’t using this font for *reading*. They’re using it for the *logo*. You’re not going to spend 30 minutes reading a logo. You just need to be able to quickly see it and recognize it. That’s it. There is no point in comparing the new Google logo…

Of course no one in first world countries will care about saving a few kilobytes of bandwidth. We’re all on broadband. It’s for users in developing countries who might be using really slow 56k connections. If you actually read the article, they showed an example of what low bandwidth users get vs what everyone else…
