I’m black as 1:47 in the morning and ‘parental/family loyalty’ causes no end of problems in our community. The fact that so many black people kee-kee about horrendous ass-whooping stories is proof of that.

He signed up to that shit show. He ain’t me.
That’s a good description of Naomi Campbell. She got discovered at like 14 and went from being in school to being flown out to be in the Pirelli calendar. We know the bullshit of being in your early-mid teens. Imagine only ever being surrounded by people that cater to you and tell you how gorgeous you are. Or telling…
The Bush girls clearly adore their parents and for his many faults, I bet W was a fun dad. Those girls got a lot of shit for being teenage party girls, but they seem like genuinely lovely women. The Trump Tribe* seem like they’d happily fuck each other over.
Dog fog-horn.
I’m incandescent with rage. I hate him, my kids hate him, my cats probably hate him. I hate the people who voted him more than I hate him. He’s always been a bag of rancid piss. How you could vote for him thinking he’d be good makes me want to scream.
You know that asshole regular in your local bar? The one that goes on about the blacks, the Mexicans, how you just can’t say shit any more, who had a shitty divorce and his bitch of an ex-wife is living it up on his dime? That guy is POTUS.
Same. I’ll give it a wide berth.
It seems to be a US thing- some people here in the UK do it, but I haven’t seen it much. It’s hilarious to think that someone’s rubber chicken dinner in an overpriced country club isn’t kid friendly, but an Asian wedding that has a very long ceremony with horses, fire, and the bride and groom wearing literal gold seem…
Maybe your wedding isn’t for a two-year old. Had I had a wedding instead of eloping, there likely wouldn’t have been kids there. However, kids are at Sikh, Hindu, Pakistani, Chinese and many other weddings where not having kids present would be a disgrace. People are entitled to do as they wish, but saying weddings…
Correct. You don’t imply, you state.
I’d never seen kids at a wedding until I moved to the UK. I was really shocked when I was invited to a wedding and it was expected that we’d bring our son, who was about 5 months old. We got a sitter so we could have a child free night. My cousin’s wedding was what you described- it was the dullest thing ever.
My MIL made my husband choose between me and her. Of course he chose me. He hasn’t spoken to her in 14 years. I told him he had no need to cut her off because I just laughed her bullshit off. He couldn’t believe how horrible she was & he didn’t want her in his or our child’s lives.
God, this. My parents couldn’t come to see me get married so my husband decided it would be just us and his two friends. It caused a falling out with his family but he doesn’t regret it.
But you wouldn’t say that. You’d say ‘Metropolitan Police’ or ‘The Met.’ There was a program on recently called “The Met”.
We don’t talk about studio orphans...
Sadly, child licensing laws don’t apply to parents making content for social media. There should be a change though. It’s a damn shame that productions have to provide a duty of care for child performers but parents don’t. A production can be fined and get a police caution for letting a kid walk between sets without a…
Ok, so I work in children’s television. I fucking HATE these parent YouTube videos. My industry has a duty of care to all kids as we should. I don’t even use stock photos of kids that show a child in distress.
My grandma had every child in our family convinced that she knew Santa. She’d be so nonchalant about it & because we thought she was older than dirt, of course we believed her. She’d casually drop it into conversation that she spoke to him & whatnot. When we were past Santa age, we’d keep it going for the younger…
This is cute and a really good teaching tool about why you have to explain things clearly.
