Is it worthy of Fancy Kristen or nah?

As I write this, 33% of you didn’t read the part about the Beck 550 NOT coming along for $30k...

I hear you on the mag ride, but I just keep reading about how it’s so damn good.

Oof - that’s big $. Like I said, we’ve been very lucky, but that’s not something that will last forever - - I’m really afraid of overburdening the in-laws, but so far they enjoy the time spent with the little guy.

I feel you - we have 1, and my in laws currently watch him during the week, luckily.

Seriously - 420 HP, great chassis (mag ride I think?), not too heavy, RWD for ~$32k? I get that the styling is polarizing and the CUE has its issues, but I like the styling, and I don’t use the GPS in my current DD anyways, so what’s not to like? Steep depreciation can be your friend, depending on which side you’re

Well, I figure that if they’re in the low 30's now, they’ll be into the 20's next May — maybe even mid-20s.

That’s what, a $65k car new? Nicely done. Good to hear on both the reliability and the dealership experience. When I was shopping last time around, my experience at Cadillac was mediocre - same, old school feel that’s light years behind Lexus/MB. Pretty sure the guy was used to pushing XTS sedans to blue hairs, and

Yeah, I’m licking my chops at the used luxury sedan market I’ll be facing next spring - across the board there will be bargains galore, I think.

Oh, I’m sure that you’re right - given that the auto industry seems to be slowing, and people that are buying favor crossovers and SUV’s, I’m not too worried—

Shhhhhhhhhhh! I’m hoping to give these a good look next spring, and I don’t want the prices to go up!! :)

The fact that regular Kristen wrote this review, and not Fancy Kristen, tells me all I need to know about the Genesis.

We have a Shazam for cars! It’s called Oppositelock.

This sounds like the perfect car for someone named Graverobber, but for me, it’s a CP at any price.

For some dumb reason (desperation, it was desperation), I bought an 84 Topaz, in college. It was boring as hell. If I were to list every car I’ve ever owned, this would be the one I forget to name.

True- although that varies, too. I’ve ordered 3 cars over the years, and wasn’t discouraged by the dealers on those, but I’ve seen other dealers try to avoid it.

Agree on all counts. For something like a Fusion, it’s more likely that you can find what you want, or close to it. And if it has $500 worth of stuff you don’t want, then you live with it. But the higher end brand is likely to have $5k worth of stuff you don’t want. Suddenly ordering mmakes financial sense, too.

EDIT- its about 5% in the US, and 50% in Europe.

Oh hell yes you can. Some dealers refuse, but they’re the ones you want to avoid anyways.

No, I think a lot of people order cars, but some manufacturers really seem to discourage it (most notably the Japanese brands, but there are others).
