I wanted to rent one in Costa Rica. The guy flat-out refused, because apparently I’d already pre-paid for a Hyundai Tucson, which he insisted was “much nicer.” I tried to convince him I didn’t care about overpaying, I wanted to drive the damn Jimny!
The Jimny is the Woke Wrangler.
I have a theory about modern Nissan, and why its current U.S. lineup is such a lackluster pile of damp stools (no…

It was $2B to buy out the contract... but it was $2B in the first place for GM to have the option to buy FIAT... so total was $4B in the entire scope of the deal, all for GM to do a little flirting.
What is more likely out of these two scenarios:
Could have been $2B. I can’t remember the amount any more. I just remember that the put clause in the Alfa Romeo/ GM joint venture was idiotic, and he made them pay through the nose to get out of it. It was a good catch and solid negotiating on his part. {Edit: It was $2B. I looked it up.}
This is what he’ll be known for. FIAT got a ton of cash from GM in the early 2000s they used to develop the last generation Punto, Panda and the new 500, too. I think it was $2 billion, though, and I don’t know where they’re going to get money for another generation of new cars.
I wonder how much the decision to split off Ferrari was his idea or the owning Agnelli family. What I really am impressed by is how he got GM to eat its put for Alfa Romeo to the tune of something like $5B which gave him the capital to turn around Maserati, and that was a solid success. People focus on the odd ball…
Ohhh, yeah—don’t even care. I live in a German city and the air quality around diesel cars idling in the traffic is obviously poor. I don’t need any kind of emissions test to tell me that. If it were up to me, I’d crush them all tomorrow, but because this is Germany I feel as though the court will decide in favor of…
Yeah, you’re gonna need sources for those claims, buddy.
