This is a great thing and definitely underappreciated. All of my Saabs (even the 1984 base 8v 900) did this. So does my Volvo. The A4 I had briefly and the RX-8 - nope. The wife’s CX-5 sort of does (the have an adjustable timer to turn them off).

My dad had one of these when I was little! Not sure I can find any pictures of it. I don’t think it was ever road-worthy but he did run it in the mud bog’s for a season...which was about how long it was around for.

Well, I don’t have a ton of experiences working on cars - mostly just helping dad with stuff. But, I’m not afraid to tackle the basics. Sometimes timing and stubbornness can overcome common sense. A couple quick examples come to mind:
