So the AVClub is capable of assigning a writer who knows about skating to an article about skating, but still allows each and every article about football to come out as little more that "Concussions: amIrite, guys?"

"That's' right."

Honestly, 8-9 year olds probably shouldn't even be playing full contact football. 7th or 8th grade is reasonable to start playing with pads, but anything beyond that is too soon.

I love football. I might even be a football evangelist. But these sonsofbitches coaching these poor kids are borderline criminals. I hope those unfamiliar with the game will believe me when I say that these people are not representative of the youth football community or of the football community at large.

Britta is an appropriate avatar for you. You're the worst.

I think you're confused. Wasn't "diversity" a wooden, civil war era maritime weapon of some sort?

"What's my favorite utensil? I don't know, I never thought about it… I guess if you have to ask me, Shoshana, my favorite utensil is this knife, right here, on the table. Not any knife, not all knives, but *THIS* knife. Why do you think this knife, right here, is my favorite utensil, Shoshana?'

I don't think there are, no. But the woman was clearly bad at he job in any case.

That and the thing after Hannah said "college years are the best of your life" (or something like that) and Shoshana says "Yeah but I feel like the people that say that end up not making a lot of money." …. Immediately thought "Oh fuck I can't wait till this bitch is broke. Cannot fucking wait."

"over the top drama queen" I think both accurately describes the character and why he doesn't appeal to me.

I mean, I'm not like these people, but I'm not married or yet 30 and I've dropped several friends for much less than the shit Jessa's pulled.

One would think so, right? But she asked Jessa so earnestly that it was like "No, really… are you one? If so, can you tell me? Do you feel like a sociopath?"

Rites of Passage Experienced as a Young Man: First fist fight, first time drunk on stolen beer, loss of virginity, first overnight road trip to some concert or other, various milestones in sports…

"That's why I like these Texan roles, man. I get older, they stay from the same place. Yes they do."

And the Geico gecko, and Progressive Flo, and the old man that pushes gold investments at the race track with his shit collar unbuttoned to show he's one of the people.

I didn't get that he hated Christians, more that he didn't enjoy the prospect of the crime being labeled as "anti-Christian." Not being a Christian and holding a worldview that doesn't include faith doesn't mean Cohle "hates" Christians.

Seems like she'd of tasted the chocolate though

… so far so good, VanDerWerff, but the truce is shaky.

Yeah I'm not sure about Amy Shumer. There's something about he stand up that I just don't care for. I'm not sure what it is, exactly, but I don't think I like her.

Could somebody explain to me why people love the Elijah character so much? I don't get it.
