Fair enough. Then The New Yorker, Time, Maureen Ryan and everyone else who lists Enlightened as the best show of 2013 are just wrong.

If Todd truly believes that this is the best show of the year… well, okay. I just can't believe how anyone could. I saw every episode, it's a nice little show. It isn't the best of anything.
I don't know, there seem to be plenty of people on this thread who take issue at Enlightened being considered #1.
Okay, that's a fair criticism. They might actually think that Enlightened is the best program of the year. If so, then I withdraw my "trolling" comment. On the other hand, I have too much respect for the writers of this site to believe that they actually think this program is #1. I believe that they love Enlightened…
Liked because I, too, dislike Mitch Album
Why is Breaking Bad the only program mentioned as being possibly better than Enlightened? Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Top of the Lake, Bob's Burgers and Archer are all better than Enlightened, in my opinion.
"Conspiracy" is just such a ridiculous word to use…
The AVClub trolling in support of their personal causes is hardly a conspiracy. They do that all the time.
No, it's just a terrible choice. That's all.
I don't know what you're trying to say here. Are you suggesting that I'm some provincial religious whackjob because I think Enlightened was only okay?
and I disagree. For me, Enlightened was something I watched and thought "Hm, that was kinda neat." Then I forgot about it, until some people decided to troll us all by voting it #1 best thing about the whole year.
So are you arguing that Enlightened is somehow superior because it isn't an adaptation?
… every plot in Breaking Bad ends with the obvious guy dying.
It wasn't even a flagship program! It was a 1/2 hour experiment! That failed!
Breaking Bad is not the greatest show of all time. Opinions might differ, but I'd argue that The Wire, The Sopranos, Mad Men and Deadwood all rank above Breaking Bad. If we include miniseries, the list atop BB gets longer.
I'm sorry, but I take exception to the idea that Enlightened presents "harrowing truths." It was a good show, but "harrowing truths"… nope.
I could get behind 1) Top of the Lake, 2) Game of Thrones, 3) Breaking Bad, but Enlightened would not make my top 5.
I don't think Breaking Bad is the best show of 2013. But Enlightened cannot be the best, either. I watched it, I thought it was good - Certainly better than Girls, certainly not written for people like me. But really, isn't a story about a flighty woman with a messiah complex who ends up likely bringing down a company…
I find it interesting that the man with a forest creature enveloping most of his head, who dresses nearly entirely in camouflage athletic gear, is spouting off at the mouth about preserving social norms and conforming to a moral or an ethical ideal. You want to talk to me about what's what, pal, you can start with a…
Very good point.
