I walked out of the theater thinking it was the best movie I'd ever seen in one and the apotheosis of King adaptations. It knew what to leave out and what to leave in. The joke about Morgan Freeman being Irish and that's why he's nicknamed Red… if that's not a Stephen King joke, then it oughtta be.

It's beautiful. It takes the Stephen King original and tweaks it slightly for a perfect book-to-movie adaptation.

I actually saw SHAWSHANK and PULP FICTION on the same day, Friday, Sept. 23, 1994. Who knew? No one knew (we kinda suspected Tarantino's move might become a thing). SHAWSHANK as matinee, loved it, walked out thinking it was the best movie I'd ever seen in the theater, or at very least a King adaptation. Then saw PULP

What?! I thought that was Jeff Goldblum!

Who's that?
