If a person is convicted a second time of molesting a child, they get automatic life without parole. That way there’s no need to register repeat offenders and first-timers get a chance. They have to go to jail for their crime and will require specialized treatment while incarcerated and with aftercare once released,

Absolutely. Just look at the man in Alaska who used the registry to carry out vicious vigilante attacks against registered child-oriented sex offenders. As atrocious as the crime triggering registration is, no citizen ever has the right to deal out vigilante justice. Ever.

What about Mark Foley and that billionaire sex offender who got a honey of a deal from the Feds w/o victim input? Social status, economic status, and political clout all play a role in who gets the brand and who doesn’t.

...Or some sort of youth sports coach, a minister, a youth minister, a gymnastics coach, big brother/mentor, etc..

Anemone, I can’t begin to fathom the pain you endured and the frustration. I do commend you on not letting hate blind you to the point that you’d rather see laws that are vengeful than ones that actually help the offender not to re-offend and rebuild a life that’s worth having. A man with something to lose will weigh

Well-said, and it would be nice had Anakin survived the 2nd death star and went on with Luke to try to set right the terrible evils he committed while in the grips of the dark side. Vader will make an appearance in “Rogue One” and will be severely injured again.

Wow!! Finally!! Someone making the exact same argument I've made in the past; only I used a rattlesnake.

Yeah, California locals passed their own restrictions that were harsher than what the state put in place and guess what!! Janice Bellucci and Reform Sex Offender Laws California sued them and forced them to drop their local ordinances. Good for CA RSOL & Janice Bellucci!!!

Isn’t the textbook definition of “insanity” doing the same old thing over and over and over again while expecting different results? Then those who want and pass these ultra-restrictive laws must be clinically insane!!

Refreshing attitude. At least you’re able to see past your dislike and acknowledge honestly what works.

You’re referring to CoSA (Circles of Support & Accountability). Yes, it works, but is unpopular because it’s clearly NOT punitive in nature. The program actually takes meaningful steps to ensure offender success as opposed to abject failure so many vengeful souls demand.
