So, basically VW.

People need to stop telling VR what to be (and what not to be). It’s a new thing, people have both mundane and wild ideas of what they want from it.

Yep. Even 2D -> 3D markedly changes the way that directors stage their shots, in addition to all the tech and post production issues. 180° or 360° immersive is going to require a bit of a rethink. I doubt we’ll see much mainstream media span 2D/3D over to VR. Animation and games would like have an easier time of it.

So do I like or unlike when someone says their pet has passed away?

Happy birthday!

Fine if you want to do this, but when I look at your groin because it’s blinking I will say “ooh I didn’t know you had a bioluminescent crotch” and then abandon whatever conversation we were having or point you were making.

It’s very easy to say that you’d pay more for a better version of something that you have and use frequently. It’s much harder to say that other people would pay ~$200 more for something they are already not buying in sufficient volumes. Especially after the organization you’d have to convince has a clear comfort

Going from the photo, perhaps this was a mispelling of solderer...

Your reasoning would be fine if you were justifying 32Gb instead of 16. It’s just too much work overall and high potential for dealing with problems at the wrong time.

While I understand the criticism of this device, having officers rely on a single pistol device for non-lethal to lethal escalation seems like a good direction. I imagine that other products will follow in this vein.

There was a Frederik Pohl book where some folks have to bring one of their aliens captors to Earth and show them around. Getting stuck in traffic, the Alien thought about our roads and said “why didn’t you simply build the transportation system so it goes faster with more traffic, instead of getting slower?”

Yeah or design it turned it 90° so the gesture is more like a cop with a Maglite. As much as I want my watch to shine outward (past my palm like Ironman), I don’t know why I’d want to illuminate my fingers and have to hold my hand out until it falls off.

Why can some Kinja articles let me comment on paragraphs and some not?

If you’re thinking of the popular Uncle Sam poster, that was painted by J. M. Flagg. No pun intended...

If I were this company I just would propose this as something new rather than compare to PFDs. I don’t see much overlap and this will need to find a niche. Maybe the comparison is only being made here.

Forgot to /s my second comment. Honestly not trolling, just kidding around.

That whooshed right over my head right then. I’m assuming everything if we need more data then we use like a really long mic headphones cable with all those segments. That’ll work right?

Remember when cables, ports, and plugs were round? That was impossible to screw up. People are forgetting that these “innovations” only allow 0/180° reversibility, not 0-360°. You call this progress? /s

Does this work in an oven?

Wish the barrel had some profile that helped keep it oriented. I’m sure it’s a learnable tool though.
