@Closingracer: Yeah, it wasn't so much about Jak and Daxter in and of itself, it was the juxtaposition of LBP vs. J&D that left a bad taste in my mouth considering it's success, (even multiple greatest hits releases.)

@Komrade Kayce: Great post - your childhood sounds a lot like mine.

Also - the presence of LittleBigPlanet (though I love it) and the absence of Jak and Daxter, which has been around for a decade and sold many millions of copies makes me think this is a list of not only what is "popular" but what is in the *current* mindset of the gaming poopulation.

I don't really consider World of Warcraft a franchise - I consider Warcraft a franchise, and WoW a game within the franchise.

@VALIS: Nice - I agree.

I loved Three Kings, if it was done to that level of style I'd be happy.

Every time I see the word "wookiee" I think of this:

@Mentuss: I'm with you on this - Wii has some gems, like Wii SPorts and Resort, but otherwise, I think the tech has pinnacled at Dualshock (or maybe xbox360 controller - haven't decided.)

@Y-bot: That part goes without saying.

@TiltingMills: Having worked at more than one large studio, I have to say, your suggestion, while reeking of common sense - just "isn't done." The laywers would shit many, many bricks if the idea of such a distribution scheme were even mentioned.

@Leanid: But the bulk of the PS3 and Xbox games that are also released on PC *are* the violent games (shooters).

@mastiffchild: Are you saying KY has an anal streak? :)

@galm666: Of course, there is always the option that some developers choose: get the game done on-spec and on-time. Not a common method, but with PD's resources, it shouldn't be a problem.

@VincentGrey: Agreed :) Never understood the fun in the "hold X and press forward on analog stick and watch as you climb over everything in your path regardless of skill" mechanic.

@MoBoRoS: Apparently there is nothing negative to note about this game.

Wow - must have. Just for the black. Not a huge Wii fan either, but for some reason this calls to me. Maybe because it will match my very-loved DS?

Jesus, people will hack and cripple and buy add-ons ALL DAY LONG just to have their Apple crap do what notebooks and netbooks do natively.

@geiko: Agreed - he lost me at Apple. Apple is the most facist company I have ever had the misfortune of doing business with. That god that will never happen again.
