Mendelsohn is one of the best character actors around, and gave possibly the best interview ever on this site (I think it was a Random Roles). Also I have to give it up for The Place Beyond The Pines every chance I get. Excellent movie.

Maybe I missed something or maybe the article was since edited, but the only relevant text I saw was "see how Nic Pizzolatto’s countrified noir compares and contrasts with one of its spiritual ancestors, David Fincher’s Seven". In that sentence, it's made clear that Seven came before TD and is therefore an ancestor.

Pretty decent trailer. I'm going to guess that the husband was in on some kind of plan all along to kill the wife and bang the sister and/or swipe some inheritance, and they had some local law enforcement on the take too but WHOOPS the dumbass hitman wandered out into the road and fucked it up for everyone.
