Not only can you turn off mobs entirely, even if you leave them on you don't have to kill them. You can just run or go inside. And if you do choose to kill them, it's either for 1) food (survival), 2) materials, 3) self-defense, or 4) defending your possessions, all of which are legitimate reasons in real life.

I know it's incredibly unlikely to happen, but if Nintendo games became available on Steam I would become exceptionally poor in a hilariously short amount of time.

While many may joke about the coming robot apocalypse/singularity/what have you, I look forward to the day that A.I. opponents in my video games are as skilled and adaptable as the real deal, allowing me to play my favorite video games long after the human community has left it behind.

I don't know why people constantly make this argument. The classic Genesis trilogy of games were FULL of speed-killing platforming sections. Heck, arguably the most entertaining level in Sonic 2 was the casino slot machine, which required you to be slow and precise.
