I’m not usually a vindictive person but I really, really, really hope that he winds up behind bars. Like, I want his comeuppance to be so thorough that he not just doesn’t have any money, he also doesn’t have any freedom. And then I remember that there’s no effing way that’s going to happen and I go back to drinking.

My guess is that the Republican Congress will let him do whatever he likes so long as he signs the bills they want signed. But as soon as he starts making their lives difficult, dude is gone.

New business plan:

That was my thought, too. Like, is he out of sperm? If he has the means to pay for a surrogate to bring these embryos to term, what’s stopping him from ponying up a little extra to get a donor egg?

I blame Fox News for a huge portion of it. They told those poor, rural whites for years that they could ignore any news source that didn’t tell them what they wanted to hear. Remember back in 2012 when all news sources who weren’t Fox News were “in the tank for Obama” and therefore unreliable? Well, then when Fox

Yeah, so basically all the vetting that was done already is out the window. 1,000 of the 4,000 positions that need to be hired also have to be confirmed by the Senate. Vetting is kiiiiiind of important. This should be a really fun four years. ::resumes drinking heavily::

Slate had an article about how Paul Ryan was going to wind up running the show because Donald Trump has no fucking clue what he’s doing. I disagree strongly with EVERYTHING that Paul Ryan stands for, and yet I found the idea incredibly comforting.

It’s totally true, although it’s not one guy and it might not have happened yet. Apparently, when Obama got his, he joked, “It’s a good thing there are bars on those windows or I might be jumping out of them right now.”

It’s not the name of a person. It’s the name of a particularly bad venereal disease. At least, that’s what I think every time I read it.

I don’t think you’ll really see a lot of rage. I think it’ll be more like a slow burn of disappointment. They’ll tell themselves that he has to do stuff for the rich people first and that he’ll get to them next. And then next. And then next. And slowly they’ll start to drift away from him. It’ll mostly just be

I think I know the answer to this question, but when he says that they’re going to start deporting the illegal immigrants with criminal records, is that 2 to 3 million number a real estimate or is that just a number he pulled out of his ass?

I don’t think it’s necessarily sympathizing with Nazi causes so much as just feeling like they CAN do this so they should. I think they just think of it as a fun way to assert dominance, and they’re pretty sure that they can get away with it. Not that I am in any way excusing it—these are bad people who should feel

That is a good article. Thanks for sharing it.

Well, yeah, there’s always that.

Maybe. But at a certain point, if you can’t get shit done, what good are you? Like, right now, his supporters believe that he’s going to go to Washington, knock some heads together, get shit moving. He’s going to bring change. That’s what he’s told them he can and will do. Maybe he can get away with a little bit

Oh, don’t get me wrong. They can fuck some stuff up. But they can’t fuck that much stuff up in two years. They can repeal Obamacare, which, yeah, is a campaign promise. The thing is, if they do that, they’re going to piss some people off, including Trump supporters. They can appoint someone to fill Scalia’s seat

That’s what gets me. More than one person said to me, “I voted for Donald Trump because now Washington will know that we want a change.” Uh, okay. Sure thing. You just hold your breath waiting for that “change”

I see no way in which the Republicans fail to overreach and piss off a lot of people. If Trump can’t deliver on all his campaign promises, there are going to be a lot of people who won’t be convinced to come out and vote for Senators and Congressmen. That sounds a lot like a recipe for sweeping the Republicans out

Yeah, but the president doesn’t get to hang out with the interns. He has to hang out with the Senators and Congressmen and their chiefs of staff and all the normal looking wives.

That’s the thing that I have found baffling. “Trump has exploited the tax system and so he knows it and can fix it so others can’t.” So, he’s going to make himself worse off for the benefit of the rest of us? “Trump is going to end Washington corruption!” Have you seen the people he’s surrounding himself with?
