Humans can exist in captivity.
Humans can exist in captivity.
Here's an article about the book: The Sexual Politics of Meat: How Sexism and Animal Cruelty Coexist
Couldn't agree more. Animal rights is an important issue every feminist should learn more about. Systematic exploitation and discriminating of non human animals in all human societies, particularly exploitation of reproductive processes of female animals in factory farming is a feminist issue. Also, I don't mind PETA…
So much happiness. Glad he was given a chance.
So the practical solution is to set horses free into the wild and no longer use horses for any purpose... because letting domesticated animals slowly die from lack of care is so much kinder?
I think it's great that you're raising your child vegan. It's already acknowledged that vegan diet is safe for all stages of life. But I can only imagine the criticism you get from other parents. :/
I don't know... it looks like UFO to me.
Well I'm glad you're concerned about (mis)treatment of animals.
It usually is all-or-nothing with people who do nothing...
Oh, the *one* thing that will rile me up is when motherfuckers say I am "imposing my beliefs" onto my child. God. Damn. That will send me through the fucking roof. Of course, I AM, you idiot. It's called, "parenting" and when you feed your kid animal products, or take her to church or let her wear a fucking Bob Dylan…
Ahh the desert island question... I usually answer jokingly I'd eat you if I had to. But am I really joking... who knows. I think that many people believe veganism=moral perfection under any circumstance. And then it's just a matter of finding some personal flaw in order to dismiss the whole concept of animal rights.
Are you saying all vegans are "sickly pale and malnourished"?
"If the tables were turned" is not a sufficient moral argument, imo. Otherwise, things like death penalty and torture of prisoners wouldn't be morally problematic. I don't really care what chickens would do to me if the tables were turned. It doesn't effect my decision not to mistreat them here and now.
Would it make any difference to you (and how you feel about your dog) if someone who actually ate dogs said dog meat is the tastiest meat? I'm guessing no? Which is my point. It makes no difference whatsoever to me.
Similar experience here. I know what animal products taste like. I avoid them for ethical reasons. It's kinda funny when meat eaters complain about loud-mouthed vegans, when they are the ones talking obsessively about bacon, chicken and cheese. People usually find out that I'm vegan when we are eating, not before.…
Yeah. I don't know what is it with people describing to me what meats they like, how they like it, and how tasty it is. Sometimes I'm tempted to reply to those who own pets by describing how tasty dog- or cat meat is, and give them a taste of their own medicine.
You can't breed someone (non-human animals are someones not somethings) into slavery to the point where slavery is morally justified. Because it never is. But there is such a thing as exercise without exploitation.
So much guessing, so many expectations and question marks... so little actual communication. First decide what you want. And then tell him about your intentions and expectations. Ask him about his own. If there's a clash of interests, end the "relationship". Done. To sum it up: you have to have a real conversation…
