Imagine Bill O'Reilly having a field day criticizing Jesus for being a socialist (feeding the poor for free and all that.) Imagine Jesus demanding that the Vatican give away all their money. Maybe he'd hang out with Assange and Snowden before being accused of terrorism. Being a son-of-god he'd have the hottest leaks.…
Excellent point.
If Jesus came back, and he wasn't blond, blue-eyed, white male, speaking fluent english and waving american flag, he'd be in BIG trouble.
Animals are not toys or props and they shouldn't be used for human amusement. Animals used for entertainment often indure abuse and injuries. It's not fair to them regardless of how it makes us feel. So yes, it's a very valid point. Too bad there's so much focus on who's making the point and how verrry craaazy they…
Those (from the linked page) definitely don't look like "stick figures" or "very skinny" to me. They look fit and healthy. Unlike average catwalk model look. (of course this is only my opinion.) Not saying that someone bigger would be unhealthy though. More diversity is always welcome.
That's a very specific fetish.
You have a point, there should be more diversity. Although I don't think that pictures of healthy looking, strong bodies are problematic, even if they are "skinny".
Yes I read it. Imo many of those are photos of healthy looking women with muscles, even though there should be more diversity, not just in size, but age too. I find those catwalk photos on Jezebel a lot more worrying.
Love Peter Riegert in Local Hero, but I can't find Crossing Delancey anywhere!
Not just you. But then, I find most of the pieces in these fashion articles totally unwearable, uninspired and overpriced. My test is always: would I look at it twice if I saw it hanging on a rack in an H&M store?
Parenting done right. If only there were more parents like you.
I love polka dots! And stripes. Ok, floral prints too. I have a thing for patterns. Pinterest takes care of that obsession.
Agreed. Quotes like "It's no longer about skinny, it's about healthy." and "Strong is the new sexy" are very positive imo. They encourage health and fitness for those who are into it. Not to be confused with "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." and obsession with "thigh gap"- that's not about health or fitness.
War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength. "War on terrorism" reminds me of that. Definitely still relevant.
Ok, got it. I'm not trying to invalidate your opinion. Actually it's interesting to learn about other perspectives.
But Orwell was right about the Big Brother society on some level. And I remember his focus on torture - still very relevant imo. Both books have a lot to offer.
Haven't read that one! ;) Thanks for the rec.
Ok I'm going to be obnoxious and say that 1984 is a must read for everyone living today. Must must must read! (And if you like it, also read Brave New World.)
Um, I don't think this is a "world" problem, I think this is an American problem. I know Europeans are just fine with moms having a drink or two.
