it's taller than the statue of liberty.

Grew up going to Episcopal church as a way to fend off the mormons (Utah kid here) and really loved that it provided community, tradition and history - and no one ever, not once, tried to force their vision of god on me. We heard sermons that quoted Buddha, we were encouraged to spend time alone littering to our inner

I can see why distribution of household tasks and parenting might be more equitable with same sex partners, but I also think a major factor in why their kids do measurably better is the fact that same sex couples have to be proactive and have their shit together to become parents in general, while that is not

Yeah, it's fairly common, unfortunately. If you want to feel even worse, the left does the same thing to Ann Coulter. Now, I hate her with a burning passion, but if you're going to compare her to trans women I think that it's trans women who should be insulted in that scenario.

Exactly! It seems like a pretty well-worn trope that strong black women invariably have their femininity attacked. No surprise that this is playing well with the Tea People.

So she calls Obama gay, because Michelle is trans. I've seen people defending this as a joke, but it really is a terrible joke. It's based on the ideas that 1) being trans is inherently a negative, secret thing and 2) men who are attracted to trans women are gay. It's really a hat trick of anti-Obama, homophobia, and

Her abortion is necessary and unavoidable, but other women are whores.

He was especially a dick to rich people, and called them out on their bullshit all the time. I love how so many of his parables involve trolling rich people.

Yeah, sorry. If someone "feels hurt and excluded" because what they want to do is unworkable for people because of cost, then "hypersensitive child" is as kind as I can put it.

I confess, I don't have a ton of sympathy for what essentially boils down to "it's not that simple because a bunch of grown women act like hypersensitive children".

We're one of three countries that doesn't mandate paid maternity leave in the entire world.

Awwww, honey...

Oh good, I was briefly worried that R. Kelly would do something that WASN'T horrible so I'd have to start saying "he's a pedophile and a rapist but he does at least stand by his kids." Nope! Just a terrible human being wall-to-wall. It's almost refreshing in its simplicity.

I hope this doesn't come across as minimizing what happened or as denying that transgender people are very frequently the target of hate crimes, because that is not what I mean to do. But I can also kind of see where the officer is coming from. I have cadaver dogs and even though I'm a civilian handler, we're called

As a big-chested woman, my experience is not that I don't exercise because of my boobs, but rather that the type and intensity of exercise I choose to participate in is different than what it otherwise would be.

While I'm happy about this in one respect, I'm also leery, because as bad as social conservatism is, economic conservatism is just as bad or worse.

A few months ago Mrs. O wondered aloud if my geiger counter would react to a couple of wristwatches I own that have tritium dials. Such dials have tiny vials of tritium gas and phosphorescent material. These things glow brightly all on their own. Similar technology is used on night sights for firearms. I own a Glock
