For what its worth, backing into parking spots is mandatory at many chemical plants to aid in rapid evacuation should it be needed. The logic being that backing up will take several moves whereas pulling out will only be one.
I guess it becomes a question of when will you have the time to make the extra move.
Cost is relative if you factor in cost of operation (fuel economy). If this tech offers a significant fuel economy advantage it might make economic sense. Through in env. compliance requirements and it might come out ahead.
Careful what you wish for, you might end up with a GM derived i-drive mess. I’ll gladly keep my button mess!
I guess it depends on how you quantify “dangerous.” If you look at it strictly from a potential energy perspective, the faster you go the bigger the wreck.
On the opposite extreme, a car with wooden wheels would have a hard time getting fast enough to cause any damage from losing control.
“Envisioning” sounds a whole lot like they don’t have anything even close to a working prototype. Ethanol was the closest we’ve gotten to a closed carbon loop and even then it had its drawbacks....
