You left out the part where they had a $2B deal fall through recently, which likely prompted this “belt-tightening”. Essentially, they spent money like crazy to inflate their value for a potential sale/investment, it didn’t work, and now since they fucked up they gotta lay off a bunch of people and close down studios…
The first season was a very good season of sci-fi television, but a terrible adaptation of the source material. But a faithful adaptation of the source material would have made for terrible television, so that’s probably for the best.
fic has ALWAYS been accessible. writing has been accessible for YEARS. people have been writing fanfiction since the 1800s and publishing it since the 1890s. Accessibility has never been an issue, as there is literally no gatekeeping happening and nothing stopping anyone from writing fic.
humans read and learn, but anything they produce is created through their particular lens informed by their own entire life, way of thinking, and their capabilities. What they read, they paid for (with money, time, personal investment), they appreciated, and it inspired them. If a human learned to write the same way…

Love & Thunder is what happens when you give Waititi a little too much room to work. Likely because they’ve just got too many projects in the pipeline and can’t have as tight a reign as they would normally have had.
I’m not sure this is a totally fair read of Hemsworth’s quote, which was “I think we just had too much fun” - which I read more as the people making the movie on set got too involved in having a fun, goofy time on set they lost sight of making sure the various tones gelled together as a cohesive movie. I don’t think…
