One of the thoughts that I’ve hated more than anything over the last 300 million years it feels like Trump has been President, is the amount of credit he gets for being some next level supervillain genius who’s masterfully manipulating the press and his believers.

Are you suggesting we should create a gay state?

You’re welcome. Merely speaking my truth. Happy that it aligns with yours.

I think it was better than any other film I saw last year. As far as “outstanding achievement in film”, BP told its story from a perspective and with a sensibility that I’d never seen in any prior film. It was a profoundly refreshing communication about fundamental human relationships and the consequences of the actio

I’ve seen em all and I beg to differ.

Touché.

Counter-point: Green Book (aka Crash 2: Racism Boogaloo) and Bohemian Rhapsody are also nominated for best picture.

Except for some shitty cgi, BP is a well made, feel good movie about an important theme, the type of film that is often Oscar bait.  As entertainment, imo, it is the third best comic book movie of the year (behind Into the Spiderverse and Infinity War) but it is absolutely genius in tapping the emotional conflicts and

No, we are comparing those movies that won next to those they were nominated with. Just like we are comparing Black Panther next to the other movies nominated with it. What we can infer is that not always the best movie wins each year. Or sometimes 2 really good movies cancel each other out and the 3rd best movie

Well, thanks for reminding me... I’d blocked it out.

I saw it on a plane (long flight, had watched everything else by then). The air marshall had to stop me from trying to open the door to jump. Okay, maybe not quite, but wow that was an awful, awful, awful ending.

I can’t believe how much I hated that film.

Or conversely, films like Good Will Hunting, which were actually improved by the studio. (The film, as written by Affleck & Damon, was a looooot more like The Accountant)

I don’t think his views stem from a lack of understanding of the science at hand - I think they stem from him trying to use science to justify the empirical fact that he’s a racist, misogynist douchebag.

The whole abortion movement stemmed out of eugenics. Planned Parenthood’s reason for being was to remove unwanted traits from the human race (and they had a very specific focus!).

Old white male British biologist turns out to be a eugenicist and to have stolen credit from a woman?

On the other hand, if we are going to agree that a woman’s right to bodily autonomy is absolute (which I do), then we have to make peace with that kind of reasoning.

Being that this is in response to a post that is now just a period, I think you won.

I agree with this part of your comment:

It’s inexcusable to hold such profoundly anti-scientific beliefs and continue to promote them while presenting them as the result of scientific inquiry. It merits punishment. This is the right move.
