Why would you not want something with Android or Apple. Play all your music and have quality GPS. Do you want a record player or something?

Clean 97 Miata. Barely a scratch on it.

Ford focus 05-07. Specifically the 3 door with a manual. These were great little cars. They don’t get any respect because there are a gazillion of them and they are a cheap ford. They are fun to drive, practical and cheap. A great alternative to the golf.

Yeah, The C5 isn’t great. I was really disappointed by the interior when
I drove it. But I don’t think it’s the most over rated because I don’t think many people are saying it great. Everyone seems to acknowledge that it’s flawed but a cheapish way to get into decent performance.

Yeah, but it is a matter of how much you trust the system. Does the manufacturer trust the system enough to say “It’s good, you don’t need to pay attention. You are not driving”. There is no exact definition of when a car becomes L3 other than a company saying it is because they have confidence in their tech to say

I don’t understand why you are so hung up on this fail over thing. Almost every article you do on AVs seems to talk about it. Are there a significant numbers of accidents being caused by fail over error?

They actually are a measure of how good the system is, just indirectly. A tesla is L2. No question. A driver has to be ready to intervein and take over. But why? Because the system is not yet good enough to handle very situation adequately. As they develop the technology and improve the system they will need less

I had always thought of it as a bubble that enveloped the vehicle cancelling gravity within. If the bubble was at the same level as the skin of the vehicle then there wouldn’t be any effect to the environment.

I don’t get your take on AVs. Saying we should throw in the towel on L5 because it is difficult doesn’t sound like a good plan for our science and engineering community. L5 should absolutely be the aim. It would be a development that would save lives, help the economy, and in general make lives better for people. The

Your days of commutes is an absurd idea. everyone has a different commute distance. All you are doing is adding a pretty pointless conversion in there. I don’t see what was wrong with just the miles, and why is this better.

Love Porches. Singers are very impressive. BUT, I’m with you. 2M is waaaaaaaay to much to spend on a car. Someone on the thread said that this is like a work of art. Agreed, and the art market is idiotic as hell. This is the same kind of thing as someone paying 120k for a banana taped to a wall. Or, someone paying 18k

When making a change like this a designer should ask- why is this better? I seriously can’t think of a single reason. This seems like making something worse just to be different.

All you’d say is “drive me home” and the robot at the wheel would do the rest... Who wants this and this alone?”

Nimble is super fun, but not something you get to use very often. At the level of performance that cars are at these days you can really only push a high end sports car to its handling limits on a track. Same goes for top speed. Acceleration however, that is something you can actually max out on a fairly regular basis.

I’m a little torn on this one. When I first heard about it I thought it sounded dumb, but this article actually pushed me more towards being interested in it. Let’s be honest, any car at this performance level is stupid and impractical. A Bugatti is completely stupid you only get one so you can brag about its top

Admittedly they are getting ridiculous. I checked autotrader before posting. The ones I found in that price range are higher mileage, but I’d trust a 70k miles Porsche over a 33k Aston

You’d have to be a complete loon to go for a DB9. The maintenance cost will see to it you aren’t rich for long. For the same money you could get a 997 Turbo or a 991 Carrera S, a new Cayman, new corvette, F-type... It’s not even the right Aston. Go for the Vantage.

It should be removed from the calendar. Make room for a circuit that works.

100% agree that tesla fanatics are too much. It should NOT be called Full Self Driving because it isn’t and that name misleads consumers into believing it can do things it can’t. Not a big fan of Musk. He seems to have embraced his cult of personality.

Gross. Just gross.
