You're misrepresenting Catan badly when you say "the only random element to the game is the cards". There are in fact several. Development cards are random, distribution of land hexes is (usually, but depends on the group) random, and production is random (and just for an added kick in the balls of randomness, the

You're (mostly) right that people won't make deals unless it benefits them, although people can and do make deals that are irrational in Monopoly (just as in real life). You're wrong that "there's no strategy in that at all". The strategy is in finding deals that benefit you more than them. Whether that means taking

You could say the same thing about poker.

To a certain extent all board games are luck based.

There are plenty of board games out there that cost $50 and are worth every penny.

There are board games that are 40-50 bucks a piece. This isn't too surprising. Add in the brand name and you have something that is priced accordingly. It will sell just fine to the fans.

If it's a casual meeting, then it'd be horrible wrong to pull out your Arkham Horror or Battlestar Galactica. Get a Jenga, CaH, anything story-creation-based or extremely physical that can be setup and played under the limit of time you think you'd play, so 30min-1h in this case.

There's a certain saying about pots and kettles you might want to look into.

So you are the obnoxious friend of a friend everyone wishes their friend would stop inviting.

The video isn't actually portraying an authentic video editing process. It's meant to symbolize that process inside the context of the video itself.
It's a music video, not a tech demo.
