Aside from the safety issues of the doors they are just super gimmicky. Lincoln throws gull wings on a concept they get trashed. Tesla puts some on a production car and they have quality issues and they still are hailed as the best thing ever.
The doors scare me even more. I’m a father, my kids sit in the back of the vehicle... what happens in an accident??? Tesla doesn’t sell to typical consumers, it sells to evangelists. That’s why they get away with selling a sub-par vehicle for six figures. These cars are about virtue-signaling, not function.

Solid axles are still part of unsprung weight- only inboard rotors on IRS setups actually reduce unsprung mass. Rotors on the diff would mean less rotational mass- Which doesn’t matter here.
