In my experience, the "no-make-up" or "bare-face" look in when photographed in hi-def is accomplished in post-production. Both for still-image and /or video. I've only worked with a few male and female models that could withstand "bare-face" in high-def.

No make-up for high-def digital photographs is decidedly different from a "bare-faced" running to the grocery store look, especially for high-definition digital cameras. High-def cameras require an entirely different technique for lighting and make-up.
