I was born in the 60s and I've worn my natural since the late '80s (also as a kid), so I've been through the full cycle of "Black Hair Care Products" — starting with Miss Jessies, then Afro-Sheen, followed by Creme of Nature and Dark & Lovely.
I guess you missed the humor. I'm aware that the original Wasco clowns were an art project. Both articles I posted also mention the art project.
I've been a light smoker for 35 years. I guess it's a matter of hygiene.
Clowns really are terrorizing the streets of small towns in Central California. 20 sightings thus far. News coverage has been extensive throughout California and online. No Federal enforcement agencies yet; they're probably waiting for a serial killer to drop the first three bodies.
A couple of years ago I hosted a full sit-down Thanksgiving dinner for 22 people. That's when I had to ask those with self-imposed diet restrictions to bring their own dish. A hosted sit-down dinner means that I am responsible for cooking all the food. However, the various food restrictions were out-of-control.
I love to dance, and will still cut up the floor in the privacy of my own home or in the company of my closest friends. The personalized, fancified two-step is the best move for a "woman of a certain age", especially while in public.
Dealing with vegetarians, vegans, paleo, gluten-free, raw food, breatharians and other assorted self-imposed, food-related vagaries can cause very real anxiety for the host. I've found that these folks NEVER SHUT UP about their eating regimens. And Goddess forbid they be politicized about their eating restrictions.
This is why Mel Gibson will always remain a friend and savior for Robert Downey Jr:
I was living in DC working as a contractor for the DOJ during the time the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal broke. In many professional/social circles there was far more sympathy and empathy for Lewinsky than ever reached mainstream media.
Sorry about the mistake. I'd still be reluctant to spend four days with a anyone who was practically dumped at the altar.
I'd be less worried about spending four days with potential serial killer than with spending four days trapped on cruise ship listening to a broken hearted, inconsolable soul rant and rave about his cruel ex-girlfriend — when he wasn't sobbing like a four year-old who's lost his favorite toy.
Ms. Lewinsky has been asked this question several times in interviews in past years, and her answer has always been an unequivocal "YES".
"one of the most important rock bands in America" You can't be serious. Please tell me how/when/where Sleater-Kinney influenced other bands or the genre(s) as awhole. If you're looking for influential bands fronted by and/or a complete personnel of women I'd consider Neneh Cherry, Exene Cervanka, Nona Hendryx, Laurie…
Though my voice isn't pitched very high, it is very "musical". Musician friends love the sound of my voice, especially jazz musicians. However, the "musical voice" doesn't always work in professional settings that are not "in person"; I participate in innumerable conference calls throughout the week.
As I mentioned in a comment to another post: "I'm an Old Black". I'll come right out and state that I saw nary a bit of dance in that Shmoney video.
I just looked at a photo for the cover of Pharrell's album. Based on the texture of her "kitchen", the third model could maybe be Black. :-)
Whenever I need a reminder of the disease vectors presented by the "white devil", I read Plagues and People, by William H. McNeil or Rats, Lice, and History: A Chronicle of Pestilence and Plagues by Hans Zinsser.
I disagree with the statement:
Other large corporations: financial services, oil & gas, big law, and the mature/veteran technology firms offer extensive family benefits, including child care, elder care, adoption (paid fees and travel time), domestic partner coverage, partial or total IVF costs (with capped coverage), etc. Some of the firms I've…
