I’m currently on a family plan for four at 6GB, and I think I actually come out ahead a bit. Taxes and fees will kill some of it, for sure, but I think I might still be able to save close to $30/month or so.

I second this. It took me a bit longer, but nothing went haywire, and I’m happy so far. There was a minor issue with my sound card suddenly disappearing after plugging in a set of headphones, but it wasn’t anything a reboot couldn’t fix.

No kidding. When I went through my GAS phase, I acquired a bunch of lighting equipment, thinking I’d use it. Nope. 99% of it has sat on my shelf outside of the one or two instances where I needed it. I only pull out the white canvas and an OCF when I need to shoot product shots to sell my other camera gear.

I can deal with the variable and unpredictability. It brings out the creative in me, and it makes me happy when I get the shot I want, just as it makes someone else happy they got it using a strobe. To each their own.

This is why I prefer natural light. This is just wayyy too much stuff to carry and keep track of. I might be limiting myself as far as lighting is concerned, but my shooting is more mobile and not as dependant on artificial lights anyway.
