Hm that's definitely true, I forgot to consider a goalie's save% in this. Possessions in hockey are also way more fluid than in basketball or hockey—giving up a score doesn't guarantee that you'll get a chance at a shot. I guess that makes soccer the best comparison...time to deploy the science!
What would be an apt comparison then? There's already a possession statistic recorded in hockey, and it'd certainly be interesting to see that juxtaposed to this graphic, but I'm guessing that's not preferred to "Fenwick" specifically because it's not as predictive. nrojb suggested plays from scrimmage but I don't…
Throwing more passes or having more rushing attempts doesn't necessarily translate to winning more, does it?
You're right, it looks like this graphic would have been better displayed linearly. The quadrants just look like ranges of the Fenwick score, which isn't really that intuitive.
The Florida fans I know are terrified of this team. All the media this week is going to be focused on them, so I just hope they're able to keep everything in perspective and keep having fun.
Cougar fans are everywhere!!
I was thinking more Masi Oka (Hiro from Heroes)
edit: figured it out
You don't have to totally dismiss the coffee you like now, you're just opening up your mind to what's out there. It's the same as finally tasting something cooked sous-vide, or your first real brandy after Jim Bean, or a nice suit after your dad's hand me downs. It's fine to go back to it now and again (lord knows how…
I like to use it for intuitively related apps. For example, swiping Messenger brings me to Google Talk, swiping Chrome brings me to Google Reader, swiping Gmail brings me to Skype, etc. I do like the idea of attaching specific tasks within that application to the swipe gesture though.
+1 Good played
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought a logistic regression would smooth over an outsized contribution from any one particular category, right? So the difference in the impact of 25,000 vs. 26,000 points is smaller than the difference in the impact of 10,000 to 11,000 points, etc?
An imaginary dead girl is causing more of a shit storm than a real dead girl. And Notre Dame looks bad either way.
+1 my god
How do you use VPN to get local MLB/NBA games? Aren't sports packages the major price sticking point of most cable deals?
