And, this was a bit to close to home. They had to close down Little Caesar’s Arena and clean a whole hotel in Downtown Detroit over this shit.

Well sure, but wash your damn hands!

Something seems off about this story.  Carnies are usually know for their clear headed judgment and good decision-making skills.  I don’t think we’re getting all the information here...

I’m mixed on this. There is a lot of bad in it, but their is stuff in it that is important to the black American identity too. I don’t see why it can’t have the big disclaimer on it, and maybe an accompanying documentary talking about the bad stuff and how it is harmful, along with pointing out the folktales that

This annoys me. They have disclaimers on their programming already. They have an entire popular attraction themed after the animated portions of Song of the South with Splash Mountain. Which is a mainstay at three of their theme parks. There is vintage media way worse than anything in Song of the South.

Making him the first black male performer to receive an Oscar.  What really sucks is that the man wasn’t even allowed to attend the film’s premier in Atlanta since segregation was still a thing during that time point.

Joe Jurando is strongly implying black people should use the “er” version of the N-word which is highly highly stupid.

Oh you sad little moron. It is a STUPID and EMBARRASSING sentence Joe wrote. Because it implies two things:

He’s got a point. This site swears constantly. And when reporting on other horrible instances of other horrible words, they write the word out. Do a Ctrl-F search for the C word in this article:

You are flagging and reporting a guy for VALIDLY complaining about the absurdity of The Root’s reporting on this story?

I mean, The Root only posts opinion articles, even when they are news stories. There are no hard news stories on The Root (or on Gizmodo, or AVClub or all the other related sites). That’s just how these sites work, “regular” news doesn’t have snark and jokes when reporting.

Featured or not, there’s no denying James Baskett’s talent. He was given an honorary Academy Award for his performance.

Well, he could have chugged bath salts and thrown an alligator at them.

It’s also possible that the boss really was horrified by this guy’s racism. His boss didn’t have to be actually racist for this guy to think he’d have his racist back. The thing about racists is that they don’t just stereotype minorities; they also stereotype people of their own race by believing that all of them

White people mystify me, y’all.”

When that meth hits...

The operator, being totally reasonable, responded by calling the man “a stupid mother fucker,” and a “stupid n-gger bitch.”

“Under no circumstances is it okay for a white person to drop the hard-R.”

I’m confused. Did the man say n-word, n-gger, or nigger? Because, you know, in a hard news story, there should not be an issue with writing exactly what the offender said.

“If you have a friend like this, push them down the stairs to an awaiting man-eating tiger that has been infected with the coronavirus.”
