Yeah, they’re pretty close if you are Helen Keller.

Gah! I love that clip; and that car. What a difference a couple decades makes...from beautifully exciting to flat out boring as hell.

I think that may be the wrong question to ask, I think the better question to ask is whether the premium price at CarMax is worth the relatively low hassle experience versus another used car dealer.

I feel for you, Autojim.

Fuck. That. Shit.

My landlord also lives in the same area as my house and refers to the HOA as the Hitler Youth. They semi-regularly try to ding me for the driveway stain my 20-year-old, 376k-mile truck leaves (it seeps a bit here and there). Landlord takes this in stride and basically tells them unless they want to pony up for

It’s SF. Those apartments probably rent for $7-10,000 a month.

I remember looking at a townhouse in around ‘96 or so....the smallest of them were, well, really small and were selling at $112,000. Driving by, I noticed a guy washing his car in the driveway, a brand new Porsche 911 turbo, which had a starting price of $116,000. I pointed him out to my (now ex) fiancee and said,

Not really. It is a matter of if. IF you put yourself in a situation with no planned escape route, IF while in that situation, someone else makes a mistake, IF when that person makes said mistake, you are are the one they involve in that mistake, and IF you absolutely cannot find an escape when that time comes for you.

Every time I drive to my parent’s house (184 miles) I try to set a person best record for the shortest drive time. I always try to beat the Waze/Google maps ETA.

I get it.

Even beyond the credit card spiraling, the kids ought to be taught about where their paychecks go. What is gross and net, and why is there withholding and deductions? What are all these employer retirement plans and why should anybody participate in one? What’s Social Security? What is an ARM versus a fixed-rate loan?

Yep, you’re right. It is a systemic problem when we have so many people in this country that can’t do basic math. I blame the schools.

It’s not a great sign for economic growth, in any case.

A few VWs & Toyotas, a bunch of Mazdas, a Chevy and Ford.

Wood everywhere, an ash tray for everyone, and high beam switch on the floor.
