Except calorie restriction isn’t sustainable, and it leaves people un-satiated, hungry, and unhappy.
The writer of this article doesn’t seem to have any research to back up their whole30 “debunking,” nor have they tried it themselves. The U.S. Library of Medicine has this to say about carrageenan -
Because of the acknowledged carcinogenic properties of degraded carrageenan in animal models and the cancer-promoting effects of undegraded carrageenan in experimental models, the widespread use of carrageenan in the Western diet should be reconsidered.
Yet calorie restriction fails time and time again because it's not "sustainable," as is the fad term to use about whole-food based diets. It just leaves people hungry, unsatiated, and unhappy.
