Just hazarding a guess but they don’t like to be told what to do by black people? Is my guess.

SVP and Rusillo forever!
I was really hoping that modern day Mr. Mom quote would be Michael Keaton, and he’d follow it up by saying “And also the classic Mr. Mom....I am Mr. Mom.”
Why must every website pivot to video. You are for work reading, not work viewing deadspin.
He would have moved to the suburbs 20 years ago?
How’d he even get on stage?!?!?!
I think we can agree the real victims were the perpetrators.
You sound like a great boyfriend.
I mean Dax Shepard might not be a genius but he’s no more insipid than Chris Hardwick or Pete Holmes or any number of other podcast hosts.
But you’re presupposing that I think she SHOULD be given a pass when I don’t. I just also don’t see the point in bringing up her race when it’s not relevant to the matter at all. I think Cate Blanchett is kind of a shitty opportunistic person, independent of being white. If you’re asking me do I think the media is…
Well I suppose if Woody Allen had ever cast a black person in a prominent role in any of his films I could argue the point with you more, but there’s really no way to tell as he more or less ignored people of color over his 40+ years making movies.
I don’t mind her really being criticized at all for being out of touch and not getting it, I think bringing her race into it for no reason is pretty fucked up, though.
So it is appropriate in your estimation to just use that phrase as a cudgel against any white woman who’s being shitty, even in cases where race has no bearing on the story. Got it.
I know what the term means. I still don’t see how it applies to this story at all. Everyone involved (Perpetrator, Victim, Abettor,) is white.
Dylan Farrow is white, what does that have to do with this story?
What does her being white have to do with anything?
I don’t see what “dignity” there is to be found in an expensive dining set. I think the image the director of HUD should be putting forth is one of austerity and plainness. Your job is to help people in need not to impress other rich assholes.
Why aren’t we saying that though? In what way do these people need anything other than the bare minimum to complete the job. This is public service. Any amount sunk into a table is an amount you can’t use to help someone, especially in the HUD department.
I wish La La Land had never been the front runner for Best Picture so people could have just gone on loving it unencumbered by the high school bitchiness reflex of “She’s not even THAT pretty.” Moonlight was better, glad it won, both are great movies.
