Haven’t seen Red Hook Summer, but I remember in Jungle Fever he sort of bolted on an anti-crack subplot that pissed away a lot of momentum he had built up in the other 3 plot threads. He has much to say, but sometimes tries to say it all at once.

Absolutely agree with whocares… on the documentaries. And don’t forget Malcolm X, based on the Autobiography. Writing has never really been his strong point
