Maybe the howtogeek app didn’t work for my HTPC because I use a custom text size of 125% on a ten foot interface. Only thing I can think of.

It doesn’t doesn’t have an installer. I just put the exe file in a folder in Program Files (x86), then right clicked the exe to create a shortcut and right clicked the shortcut to pin the app to the taskbar

The program at howtogeek never worked for me on Windows 7 64 bit. I used ActualHideDesktopIcons from the ActualTools dot com forum. I put the link in a previous post.
