Wow - who knew my old-guy J-car knowledge would come in handy some day. This is the most responses I have ever gotten to any of my posts. Excuse me while I go untangle my gray hair.

My ‘85 with 2.0 4cyl and 5-spd had some acceleration (by 80’s standards), so your Z24 would have been quick “back in the day”.
When did they have a chassis? Must have been an option I didn’t get on my ‘85. I remember when I was dickering price with the salesman. We were about $400 apart on the price so I told him to remove the power steering (a $400 option back then). He didn’t like that so I pointed out that instead of the $56 AM radio…
My youngest son regrettably had a green ‘93 Cavalier. He complained of shuddering at highway speeds. You guessed it, I unplugged the lockup torque converter wiring, ‘cause it kinda sorta was and wasn’t locking up.
Chevy also had an ad for the first gen Z24 entitled “Raised By Wolves” with a Z28, A Corvette and a full moon in the background. Couldn’t find it online, though..
As a reference point, my drivers ed training was in a ‘70 Caprice. To paraphrase Emo Philips, I guess I was born “a more comfortable distance from the apocalypse” than most of you.
Stef - check out the “I can’t believe it’s not butter” part at 5:00 - but the whole thing is worth watching...
Speaking of food - here’s a great insult for a good friend. “Hey, I stood up for you yesterday. So-and-so said you ate shit sandwiches and I said, No, that’s not true - I know for a fact he can’t stand the taste of bread”.
Well I’m in no position to criticize - I actually owned an ‘85 Cavalier Type 10 (which they changed to RS in ‘86) with a 2.0 4cyl and a 5 speed. When someone would ask me what a Type 1o meant, I told them it was a Type 9 that actually ran.
Why yes it did. As I replied to another comment, I had a ‘94 Olds Cutlass Supreme with a 3.1 in it. Good motor.
Had a good sound to it, at least..
The Cavalier was. The 2.8 morphed into the 3.1 (“Son of 2.8”). I had a ‘94 Olds Cutlass Supreme with “Son of 2.8” in it and I rolled 320k miles on it. Must’ve been a factory defect!
Two cannibals were overheard saying: “I’m having a ball” “My, you’re a fast eater”
“Nascar fans think.....”. Judges are thinking that one over. And I am a Nascar fan myself and am wondering about that now.
#10) I see too many of these rolling on GA 400 at 75+mph. Apparently their drivers are totally unaware of what will happen if they have to make a quick lane change.
When I see stuff like this, I still have a glimmer of hope for the human race.
Fall with Paul!!
