Yes, but layer 3 devices (namely routers) replace the MAC address with their own exiting interface, so things outside of the network you’re on don’t get your MAC from the frame.

IIRC, that was just one of the main Cyanogenmod devs. I don't think it was the Cyanogenmon group as a whole.
