It’s really unfortunate that Madge didn’t bother to do her homework. Grigoriadis has written devastating profiles, which were brilliant and possibly approached 10,000 words, of other pop figures. I'm about to dive into this one as bedtime reading.

I actually thought the NY Times profile was surprisingly flattering. The writer was clearly a fan. It was super long though, so I may have glossed over the more negative points.
The Atlantic rejected a think piece I wrote recently, and it’s not the first time.
Poor Elizabeth Kolbert who had trouble with the title of her book “The Sixth Extinction”, because she could not count up past five.
Good news, though alas Eyes on Me has been left off the FFVIII soundtrack
It’s not that she’s talking to Jay. It’s that she’s pushing into Bey’s personal space. Probably would have reacted differently if the woman had actually had the grace to stand up and talk to him without blocking out Bey.
I love that ACoop wearing a short-sleeve polo shirt, just like literally every dude in summer, now constitutes “baring buff biceps.” It’s not like he’s Michelle Obama, JustJared, why are you so thirsty?
I wonder if her 40s behind closed doors were spent in a pair of nylon leggings, bottle of wine in hand, complaining on the phone to female members of the family about Philip refusing to do basic things or refusing to stop saying the same joke over and over.
Hope Hicks doesn’t strike me as the type who wants to get pulled into this quagmire considering she bolted the fuck out here to the West coast after her gig in DC. Still, too fucking bad, she chose that path and now it’s time to fucking deal with it. I wish I could muster more sympathy, but people who willingly choose…
The Trump baby balloon has been stabbed by a Trump supporter...who managed to cut herself in the process and get arrested immediately afterwards. The balloon is okay and is back at full pressure!
Yeah, I had forgotten how long she stuck around. You’re right — a season to figure things out is plenty. It’s as long as Sarah Silverman got, and she admits it wasn’t a good fit.
Good point. Also Kristen Wiig was still on the show, and it felt like she got a lot more screentime than any of the other women in the cast.
Yep, that’s some weak research. Norm was getting a lot of Weekend Update laughs at the expense of OJ Simpson in 1998, and Ohlmeyer was friends with Simpson. Reports were that Michaels tried to save MacDonald but was overruled.
This is an odd firing to lay at the feet of Michaels, since there are plenty of firings that…
I think he gave Jenny plenty of chances— she dropped the F-bomb on her very first show, the season premiere— and rather than firing her outright she was on the entire season. She just wasn’t that good— she seemed awkward and lost most of the time, from what I remember.
And something I’ve seen in other articles, though it is omitted here, is that Heckerling still did not direct the movie. She acted as a producer, but in spite of her relationship with Chris, she didn’t direct. So it leads me to wonder if she genuinely decided not to direct and called Lorne to let him know, so he…
In the slenderest of defenses, Lorne Michaels seems like he’s trying his damnedest to prevent another Belushi/Farley tragedy with Pete Davidson. Davidson told an anecdote on Jimmy Fallon about how Michaels took him to Jamaica for New Year’s for no real reason.
i have more real life emotion feelings for this show than is advisable
I did a Buffy rewatch maybe two years ago and I was surprised by some of my takeaways. Season 2 is still the best story the show ever told, and season 3 was its high point for overall quality. Season 6 was wayyyyy better the second time around because by now I’m used to serialized storytelling, plus the drug-metaphor…
My parents came from poverty. As soon as they were old enough to work, they did it nonstop like their parents. My parents missed nearly all concerts, games, recitals, plays, etc. The only thing they did make it to was parent/teacher conferences, which were never a good thing. Vacations were out of the question because…
The pacing is really an under-emphasized reason for VII is such a great game. With long story-based games (especially RPGs) it's very difficult to maintain a steady plot pace from start to finish, but VII does it better than any JRPG I can think of. The only significant time the game really drags is during the…
